NEW YORK (AP) ? Two leading contenders for Tony Award nominations may make the race a drag this year.
"Kinky Boots" and "Matilda" ? each of which is led by a man dressed as a woman ? are virtual locks to get best musical Tony nods Tuesday morning.
The nominations will be announced by Tony-winner Sutton Foster and "Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
In "Matilda," British actor Bertie Carvel plays a brutal headmistress, while Billy Porter is a drag queen in "Kinky Boots."
Other contenders for the best musical prize include "Bring It On: The Musical," ''Motown: The Musical," ''Hands on a Hardbody" and "A Christmas Story, The Musical."
Leading contenders for best play are "The Assembled Parties," ''The Other Place" and "Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike."
