Diabetes and Obesity Leads to Premature Death | Fitness ...

I am rather upset. America has had some really great changes through the years and some that are leading to health epidemics. I am a child of the 1960?s and our mother had to call us inside to eat supper every evening and then again when it got dark. We never wanted to be sitting down in front of an electronic device or television. Our lives were spent outside exploring the neighborhood. We played with our friends. Pick up games of kickball and softball were common during the warmer months of the year.

Did you know that 1 out of 5 children are obese?

Did you know that type 2 Diabetes is increasing in children at an alarming rate?

By the year 2030, 1 out of every 3 people in North America will have Diabetes.

Here is how this epidemic got started and has flourished. I am just writing what I thought about the situation from my own personal life experience.

  • In the 1960?s Fast Food Restaurants Appeared
  • Mothers Took Jobs Outside the Home
  • Families Slowly Quit Eating Home Cooked Meals at the Dinner Table
  • Color Televisions Became Affordable for Most Homes
  • Super Sized Meals and Big Gulp Sugary Soft Drinks at Fast Food Restaurants
  • Technology Devices and Game Boys Keep People Occupied on a Couch

When someone sits in front of a television for extended periods of time, their creative abilities are diminished. The viewers are bombarded by advertisements for double bacon cheeseburgers with french fries and a big gulp sugary drink. So the person loses their critical thinking ability and becomes a slave to satisfy the cravings for fat and sugar that the fast food industry has in the foods these fast food companies sell.

The end result is a person that becomes dependent on the next powerful segment of society. The fast food industry now hands the obese person that either has diabetes or is pre-diabetic over to the pharmaceutical drug industry. People die from being overweight and from having diabetes.

Now the orthodox medical community practices good medicine to try and keep the diabetic from suffering from serious issues like blindness, kidney failure, loss of limbs and other health issues. The patient now will be on medication to keep the blood sugar stable for many years. There is a better way.

Did you know that eating a diet that is plant based and getting daily exercise has been proven to reverse diabetes and heart disease? I am so thankful that I had my own epiphany back in 1998 after I had eliminated cigarette smoking from my habits. I was able to lose the 70 excess pounds I was carrying around. I have since removed all poor dietary choices and only drink pure water and eat vegan recipes. I have not struggled with weight since 1998.

I woke up in time to complete a Bachelors Degree in an excellent University. Studying in college opened my mind up. I do still enjoy a few programs that come on PBS. I limit television to whether I can learn something from the show. I would rather sit with a classic book than watch television.

  • Enjoy spending an hour a day doing some form of physical activity
  • Enjoy fixing home cooked vegan meals that taste great
  • Enjoy reading books that I learn something that I did not know before
  • Enjoy looking and feeling great as I age
  • Enjoy having a positive outlook on life
  • Enjoy not being a slave to fast food industry or pharmaceutical drug industry

Ready For Upgrading Your Home? Read This First! ? Yapperz ...

If you do home improvements, you might think about saving money by doing some of these things yourself. You need to consider your options to make the right decision. The following article offers you the information you need when you decide to improve your home.

Exercise safety precautions when tacking home improvements! Turn off any gas lines if you have to work near a kitchen, fireplace or any fixtures supplied by gas. It can be dangerous if you are doing any renovations where there is a gas line. Always locate and mark the shutoff valve. Furthermore, be certain to understand where your gas lines sit in order to avoid hitting one accidentally.

Before installing new panels, you should paint vertical stripes on your walls. Regardless of your skill, it seems inevitable that some of the old wall will show through. To minimize the effect, before you install the paneling measure off where the panels will meet. If you have paneling, make sure your paint color matches!

When purchasing a home, hire a professional home inspector. This avoids you having to hear from a potential buyer what needs repairing or replacing, or needing to depend on your own evaluations. A third party professional is objective, and can keep the process civil.

Consider upgrading your house's appliance. This is a very easy home improvement option and it could save you lots of cash on utility bills. Upgrading old appliances can pay will itself by producing energy savings over time. Installing new appliances is fairly simple, which makes this a fast and effective means of home improvement.

There are many options available when it comes to updating your kitchen appliances. You shouldn't have to replace appliances just because they aren't the color that you want. Just purchase spray paint for your appliances and color them the color of your choice. This can quickly update your kitchen's look.

Prior to purchasing hardwood flooring, ask a professional about the status of your existing floors. You may already have wooden floors that are hidden by old carpet or vinyl flooring that are waiting to be uncovered and refurbished. In many cases you can get a floor that looks even better than a new one while spending much less money.

Fresh paint on your walls will add a new look to any room and won't cost a fortune. Consider your options by visiting your hardware store and examining the paint chips it has available. Pick the ones that you love best, and take a chance! If it ends up being an eyesore, it is easy to paint over it.

It is easy to freshen the appearance of kitchen appliances without spending much money. Is the style of your otherwise amazing refrigerator annoying you because stainless steel is where it is at? It is actually possible to purchase inexpensive spray paint for appliances that can transform their look. This can update the look of your kitchen within a day.

When you get started on any home improvement project, do not be too quick to start demolition. You need to ensure that your structures are not a support to your home before you rip them out. If there are electrical components involved, you may have to spend a lot of money to fix the mess that you made.

Do not give up on home improvement projects because they seem too difficult or time-consuming. Home improvement is not difficult given that you have the right information. Apply what you've just learned, and it will be simple.

Sprint?s Virgin Mobile Becomes The Second Carrier To Offer A Prepaid iPhone

iphone_4sPoor T-Mobile. It was one thing when the iPhone was only available at AT&T, but then Verizon got it, and then Sprint, and then the bar dropped quite a bit as U.S. Cellular got it, and most recently Cricket Wireless joined ranks offering the iPhone as an unlocked prepaid device. But now, Sprint's Virgin Mobile has taken on the device, according to the WSJ. Again, poor T-Mobile. But enough of that; back to Virgin's iPhone. (That sounds a bit like a Judd Apatow movie, right?)

Zambrano does it all in Marlins' win

Associated Press Sports

updated 3:28 p.m. ET June 3, 2012

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Carlos Zambrano homered and pitched into the eighth inning, and Hanley Ramirez went deep, too, to lead the Miami Marlins to a 5-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.

Zambrano (4-3) allowed four hits, walked two and struck out seven in before leaving with two outs in the eighth to win for the seventh time in nine games.

Jose Reyes went 2 for 5 with a double and two RBIs to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. Juan Pierre went 3 for 4 with an RBI for Philadelphia, which lost its second straight.

Heath Bell came on with two on and one out in the ninth and got a pair of groundouts for his 12th save in 16 chances.

In the third inning, Zambrano belted the first pitch he saw to deep left for his first homer of the season and 24th of his career to give Miami a 1-0 lead. Zambrano leads all pitchers since 1974 with 24 career home runs. A switch-hitter, Zambrano batted from the left side against Phillies starter Joe Blanton.

Ramirez led off the fourth with his third homer in two games to put the Marlins up 2-0. In his last six games, Ramirez is 12 for his last 24 with four homers and three doubles.

Miami tacked on three runs in the seventh. Zambrano reached on a perfectly placed bunt single down the third-base line, loading the bases with no outs. Reyes followed with a two-run double to right-center that gave Florida a 4-0 lead and ended the day for Blanton.

Blanton (4-6) allowed five runs on nine hits in six-plus innings. In his last four starts, the right-hander is 0-3 with a 10.98 ERA while allowing 10 homers in 19 2-3 innings.

Florida went ahead 5-0 when Zambrano scored from third on a wild pitch by right-hander Chad Qualls.

Zambrano retired 13 straight batters between the second and sixth innings, ending when Pierre doubled with one out in the sixth. Pierre reached second on a slap bunt down the left-field line that eluded charging third baseman Ramirez.

Pierre's eighth-inning two-out RBI single to center scored Brian Schneider for the Phillies' lone run.

Reyes' infield single in the fifth kept his hitting streak going. He is batting .373 (22 for 59) during it.

Shane Victorino singled in the ninth, finishing 1-for-4 and now has four hits in his last 30 at-bats over the last nine games.

NOTES: Ramirez lost control of his bat while striking out in the fifth, launching it into the stands. He quickly went over and asked for the bat back. . The Philadelphia crowd of 45,356 was the 231st consecutive regular-season sellout and 247th straight counting postseason play. . The Phillies are scheduled to face Dodgers LHP Clayton Kershaw (4-3, 2.42) when they open a four-game series at 7:05 Monday night. Philadelphia hasn't announced its starter, but RHP Vance Worley (3-2, 3.07) is expected to return from the DL and get the start. . After Monday's day off, Marlins RHP Anibal Sanchez (3-3, 2.57) is scheduled to face Atlanta RHP Tim Hudson (3-2, 4.60) when Miami hosts the Braves at 7:10 Tuesday.

Iraq Is Starting To Produce Oil Like Crazy - Business Insider

iraqThe New York Times' Tim Arango and Clifford Krauss team up this morning to report on Iraq's surging crude oil production and the dampening effect it should have on markets ? and gas prices. ?

Calling the increased output "a singular bright spot for the nation's future," the pair reports there's been?a 20 percent jump in exports this year to nearly 2.5 million barrels of oil a day, "making Iraq one of the premier producers in OPEC for the first time in decades."

It will also serve as a counterweight once sanctions on Iran start to bite.

"Energy analysts say that the Iraqi boom ? coupled with increased production in Saudi Arabia and the near total recovery of Libya?s oil industry ? should cushion oil markets from price spikes and give the international community additional leverage over?Iran?when new sanctions take effect in July."

While profits for foreign oil giants have been modest in the short-term, they write, executives have expressed "cautious optimism" that output could someday match that of the Saudis.

Man belongs to the primate family, all members of which are complete vegetarians. By and large primates were not created or suited to digest the dead flesh of another creature.

Indeed it is a rare but not unknown occurrence to see a gorilla or baboon in the wild dining off an animal carcass. Much of mankind and many great civilizations have remained vegetarian and indeed are often healthier than their meat eating counterparts.
For example the Buddhist people of the Far East and indeed 90 % of the population in India have been vegetarian for millennia. The Hunza people of South America, also vegetarians are renowned for their remarkable health and longevity, it is known that the vegetarian inhabitants of the Vilcababamba valley in Ecuador frequently live more than 100 years old and one inhabitant was recorded to be 142 years of age.

Again and again it is noted that the major degenerative diseases of Western society including cancer, heart disease and diabetes hardly if at all affect vegetarian populations.
Indeed in vegetarian cultures these diseases, which are the mainstay of band aid treatment after the fact, are practically unknown and are very uncommon in these vegetarian cultures.

Compare the anatomy and physiology of man with that of a typical herbivore ( for example an ape) with that of a typical carnivore ( for example a lion) and you will notice that first of all that herbivores have jaws that move laterally and vertically , and teeth suited for grinding. Carnivore's jaws move only vertically, and their teeth are only suited for ripping. Secondly carnivores have 15 times more hydrochloric acid in their stomachs than herbivores such as apes. Lastly carnivores such as lions have an average only three feet of intestine. This is done so that flesh can be expelled before the body before it has time to putrefy and go rotten. Whereas herbivores have over 22 feet of intestines. Mankind's intestines generally range from 18 to 24 feet in that range of 22 feet.

Meat is not part of mankind's natural diet. Mankind was not created to be a meat eater. It does not take much common sense or knowledge to see to whom we have more in common : it is apparent that mankind by virtue of his or her anatomy and physiology was never created for or intended to eat meat. It was noted by the renowned anthropologist Desmond Morris in his classic study ? the book "Manwatching", that "In origin, man is a fruit picking primate turned hunter".

Mankind was created by nature to be a vegetation herbivore rather than a meat eating creature, For the sake of your health and longevity this should be considered in your choice of diet. It is now increasingly easy and indeed fashionable to have a vegetarian lifestyle. This even includes many restaurants and fast food chains and not only niche restaurants such as Indian restaurants.

Consider mankind's evolutionary physiology, diet and history when considering your diet. Consider your health and longevity. You were not "made to eat meat".Betty Remple
